Job description
A front line role that requires working with the general public across a range of transactions. Typical activities as a branch cashier include, serving the general public with Mails transactions, selling Currency, and Banking transactions.
We are the biggest "Mails" Post Office in the ST Postcode area for Royal Mail, and we also now work alongside Parcel Force, DPD, Amazon and Evri.
We are a full on demand currency Post Office, meaning we stock and sell approximately 50 different currencies. We have recently been recognised as the top performing Agency branch in the Country, an accolade we strive to retain.
Due to High Street Banks closing their branches, we have become even busier with banking transactions. This includes both business and personal customer's deposits and withdrawals.
You will be dealing face to face with customer enquiries in branch, helping them use new digital services such as a Digital Passports and Driving Licenses, identifying and maximising sales opportunities and making referrals.
We also have a very busy gift, card and balloon store, where you will be expected to have knowledge of the products.
Excellent numeracy skills are essential for this fast paced role.
Experience of handling Cash is essential.
Experience of working with the general public in a customer facing role is essential.
Full training on our Computer System will be given, how to process Mails, Banking and Currency transactions along with other services that the Post Office provides. You must be keen to learn about all our products and services so you are able to share your knowledge with customers. Full Compliance tests must be completed including Data Protection, Financial Services and Security and Mails Compliance.
Candidates must be confident and able to build strong working relationships with existing and new customers. A team player, candidates must be able to work strongly independently and as part of a team, be resilient and remain positive, friendly and approachable whilst working under pressure.
Working hours per week will be 38.25 - 41.25, working 5 days out of the 6 we are open. This will include Saturday working. Our opening hours are Mon - Fri 9am - 5.30pm. Saturday 9am - 2pm. Flexibility is required to work different shift patterns. You will be required to work different days to cover Annual Leave and Sickness.
This is a very busy role, and so speed and accuracy is paramount.
Social: We have regular social outings as a team, where we go out for meals / bowling / crazy golf etc. We are a close team and these outings help to maintain a healthy relationship amongst everyone.
