Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machining equipment to produce precision components. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical processes and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. The Machinist will play a vital part in ensuring the quality and efficiency of production, working with a range of tools and machinery to meet strict standards.
Duties
- Operate and programme machining equipment such as mills, lathes, and grinders to produce parts according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Utilise CAD and SolidWorks software for designing and modifying components as required.
- Perform grinding, milling, drilling, and welding tasks to shape materials including plastics through injection moulding processes.
- Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in assembly processes by fitting machined parts accurately.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment safely and effectively during production.
- Apply basic maths skills for measurements, tolerances, and calculations necessary for machining tasks.
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organisation within the workspace.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimise downtime and ensure continuous production flow.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating grinding machines, milling machines, and other machining equipment.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks for design purposes.
- Knowledge of welding techniques relevant to manufacturing processes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of plastics injection moulding processes.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised tooling for precision work.
- Ability to read technical drawings accurately and interpret engineering specifications.
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control checks.
- Familiarity with assembly procedures involving machined components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for detail to ensure high-quality outputs.
