We are a community cafe based in Thatcham and there are a number of dates & holidays I need to cover in the kitchen. The menu is mainly Items that you would cook at home - nothing mega fancy! Full training provided.
We are seeking a dedicated Cook/Kitchen Hand to join our dynamic culinary team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, experience in kitchen environments, and a keen eye for detail. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a professional setting while contributing to the delivery of quality meals to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Ensure all food is prepared efficiently, safely, and hygienically
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and cleaning work surfaces
- Support with meal assembly and presentation to meet quality standards
- Follow food safety protocols at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory management
- Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure smooth service operations
- Adhere to health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or as a kitchen hand is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Familiarity with cooking techniques and culinary practices is advantageous
- Experience working in a restaurant or hospitality environment will be highly regarded
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations is preferred
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- A genuine interest in culinary arts and willingness to learn new skills
