Purpose of role:
As a Home Energy Advisor, you will primarily deliver Home Energy Visits, providing practical, tailored advice to residents on reducing energy costs, improving energy efficiency and managing fuel bills. Through face-to-face home visits and occasional telephone support, you will help residents identify opportunities to improve the warmth, comfort and affordability of their homes.
You will support residents to access available grants and funding for energy efficiency improvements, provide impartial energy advice, and signpost to relevant services where appropriate. The role also involves working closely with local authorities, housing providers, community organisations and other referral organisations to maximise support for residents.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided, giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and make a positive difference to people's lives and wellbeing.

Salary (per annum): £27,500 per annum
Hours/Week: 37 hours
Work outside normal hours: Occasional evening and weekend working will be required to support service delivery, community events and stakeholder engagement.
Travel: The role will require travel on a daily basis in Peterborough, Rutland and South Cambridgeshire. A full UK Driving License is required and access to your own vehicle required. Business Insurance also required.

Key Responsibilities
- Primarily deliver Home Energy Visits, alongside providing telephone energy advice where required, offering tailored support to residents on reducing energy costs, improving energy efficiency and keeping their homes warm and affordable.
- Assess homes to identify opportunities for heating, insulation and other energy efficiency improvements, referring eligible residents for available funding and support.
- Provide practical advice on reducing energy consumption, switching tariffs, managing fuel bills and accessing wider support services.
- Complete accurate home visit records, maintain resident information and ensure all documentation is completed in line with service and compliance requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with referral partners, including local authorities, housing providers, healthcare professionals and community organisations.
- Proactively identify and develop new referral partnerships to increase engagement and ensure eligible residents can access available support.
- Key account manage partner organisations by maintaining regular contact, providing updates on service delivery, monitoring referral activity and identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships.
- Deliver presentations, awareness sessions and training to partner organisations to increase understanding of the service and encourage high-quality referrals.
- Represent the organisation at community events, networking opportunities and stakeholder meetings to promote the service, engage with residents and develop new referral opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager to promote the service, continuously improve service delivery and achieve contractual and performance targets.
- Monitor and report on service activity and outcomes, ensuring key performance indicators and contractual targets are achieved.
- Manage and prioritise your workload effectively to meet deadlines, achieve agreed objectives and performance targets set by the business, while maintaining a consistently high standard of customer service.
- Support the Operations Manager with service development, continuous improvement and other duties appropriate to the role.

Person specification: Essential criteria:· Experience in a customer service, advisory or community engagement role.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, colleagues, partner organisations and other stakeholders.
· A caring, empathetic and professional approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting people.
· Experience of working to targets and achieving performance objectives.
· Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
· Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new systems.
· Ability to work independently using your own initiative, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
· Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify practical solutions tailored to individual customer needs.
· Confidence in engaging with members of the public and representing the organisation at events, meetings and networking opportunities.
· Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with partner organisations and stakeholders.
· A flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and service needs.
· Willingness to undertake training and continuous professional development.
· A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel throughout Cambridgeshire and Rutland.
Desirable Criteria
- City & Guilds Level 3 in Energy Awareness (or equivalent qualification).
- Knowledge of fuel poverty, energy efficiency and domestic energy advice.
- Experience of delivering home visits or community outreach services.
- Experience of providing advice to vulnerable or hard-to-reach customers.
- Experience of working with local authorities, housing providers, healthcare organisations or the voluntary and community sector.
- Experience of building and managing relationships with partner organisations and referral agencies.
- Experience of delivering presentations, workshops or training sessions to community groups or partner organisations.
- Knowledge of domestic energy efficiency schemes, grants and funding opportunities (e.g. ECO or other government-funded programmes).
- Experience of promoting services through community engagement, networking events or awareness campaigns.
- Understanding of safeguarding and the ability to recognise when customers may require additional support or referrals.
Additional information
The Home Energy Advisor will be based at GES's office in Peterborough; however, this is predominantly a community-based role. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time travelling throughout Cambridgeshire and Rutland, delivering Home Energy Visits and engaging with residents, partner organisations and community groups.
The role is normally worked during standard office hours, although occasional evening and weekend working will be required to support service delivery, community events and stakeholder engagement. Occasional overnight stays may also be required to attend training courses, conferences or meetings.
