Your Duties:
- Carry out general grounds maintenance and horticultural duties across a range of Council sites including golf courses, public parks, cemeteries, sports facilities, playing fields, landscaped areas and open spaces.
- Maintain parks, cemeteries, playing fields and landscaped areas in accordance with Council standards and guidelines.
- Undertake housekeeping duties and assist with the supervision of staff where appropriate, including deputising for the Chargehand when required.
- Respond to customer enquiries and provide information including directions and opening/closing times.
- Safely operate and carry out daily maintenance checks on grounds maintenance machinery and equipment, including inspections, fuel and oil checks and fault reporting.
- Carry out mobile grass cutting operations and horticultural duties including soil cultivation, fertilising, planting and site preparation.
- Undertake hedge-cutting, trimming, leaf and litter clearance, pruning and associated grounds maintenance duties.
- Handle and apply chemical sprays in accordance with Council procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
- Drive agricultural tractors, vans and trailers as required.
- Maintain accurate records relevant to the role and comply with all Council Health & Safety procedures including PPE, COSHH, Risk Assessments and Manual Handling.
- Participate in relevant training programmes and ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures.

Your Profile:
Essential Criteria:
A minimum of two years’ experience within a horticulture or grounds maintenance environment in at least one of the following areas:
- Sports Pitch Maintenance (Grass).
- Cemetery Maintenance.
- Golf Course Maintenance.
- Horticultural Maintenance (Floral).
AND
- Good understanding of Grounds Maintenance practices.
AND
- Awareness of Health & Safety procedures and requirements.
AND
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out a wide range of manual duties across Council sites.
AND
- Hold a full current UK driving licence and have access to transport to meet the requirements of the role.
Desirable Criteria:
- Chemical Handling and Application Certificates PA1 and PA6A.
- NPTC Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent qualification.
Additional Information:
- Full time, Temporary.
- 37 hours per week.
- Various locations throughout the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area, including Lisburn New Cemetery.
