Your team: We are The Times: The Times informs, entertains, campaigns and innovates. Our technology team is at the heart of this innovation and helps support a highly creative, multi-channel media operation that has a heritage of modernity, of being first and creating change.
Your role: We’re looking for a Delivery Principal to lead delivery across a group of multidisciplinary squads within Times Media Technology. This is a senior role responsible for improving how teams plan, organise, and execute work across multiple product goals.
The role is focused on building team capability, improving delivery flow, removing impediments, and helping squads become more self-organising and effective. A strong Delivery Principal will combine delivery leadership, operational judgement, cross-functional influence, and practical use of AI, automation, and modern tooling to reduce manual effort and improve delivery efficiency.
Day to day you will:
Lead delivery across multiple engineering squads by shaping roadmap sequencing, milestone planning, release readiness, and delivery of product goals.
Use AI tools, automations, and innovative workflow tooling to reduce manual effort in reporting, coordination, meeting follow-ups, and delivery administration.
Improve end-to-end flow by managing dependencies, identifying bottlenecks, and removing impediments using delivery and operational data to improve throughput.
Build team capability so squads take greater ownership for day-to-day delivery, coordination, and decision-making, whilst leading from the front with stakeholders.
Improve the effectiveness of tooling and team workflows through better integrations, automation, and simplified operating practices.
What we're looking for from you:
Strong experience leading delivery across multiple software teams or squads in a complex product and technology environment.
Practical experience of leveraging AI tools, automation, and modern delivery tooling to simplify reporting, coordination, workflow management, and team operations.
Hands-on experience of working with systems such as GitHub, Jira, planning tools, collaboration platforms, and workflow automation platforms.
Exemplary communication and stakeholder management skills, with a bias for leaning into owning complex problems through to a successful conclusion.
Ability to use metrics and operational insight to improve throughput, predictability, and overall delivery flow.
A pragmatic approach to Agile and Lean delivery, focused on outcomes, team ownership, and reducing avoidable bureaucracy.
Bonus if you have:
Experience improving delivery through workflow automation, tooling integrations, or AI-enabled practices
Experience helping organisations move away from process-heavy delivery models toward leaner, more self-organising teams
Experience operating across globally distributed teams
