About the role
Our Rangers are key to Parks Victoria providing exceptional experiences for visitors to Victoria's parks and reserves. As a Ranger, you are responsible for the on-ground management of Parks Victoria's estate, consistent with organisational priorities, policies and procedures, ensuring that people can enjoy the outdoors and protecting the things that make our parks and reserves so special.
About Parks Victoria
Parks Victoria is responsible for managing a diverse estate of more than 4 million hectares including 3,000 land and marine parks and reserves making up 18 per cent of Victoria's landmass, 75 per cent of Victoria's wetlands and 70 per cent of Victoria's coastline. Victoria's parks are home to more than 4,300 native plants and around 1,000 native animal species.
What we're looking for:
- Someone who is a collaborative and safety-focused team member who can contribute to positive team culture and effective operational outcomes.
- Suitable applicants will bring one or more of the following skills or experiences:
- Willingly cooperates and works collaboratively towards solutions that generally benefit all involved parties and to accomplish organisational objectives.
- Experience working with and managing stakeholders
- A passion for the environment
- Budget management and reporting skills
- Asset and data collection or transferable planning skills.
- Hands-on operational capability (such as trade qualifications, vegetation and chainsaw works, roading and plant operation, basic 4WD use, welding, carpentry, or pest plant and animal control).
Your application will need to include:
- A cover letter addressing the Criteria listed below:
- Plant, chainsaw and machinery operation experience.
- Demonstrated practical skills in the maintenance and operation of machinery, small equipment and tools.
- Demonstrated skills in the maintenance and construction of a range of facilities, including, signs, campgrounds, fences and walking tracks.
- Trade related skills.
- Demonstrated experience in self-management.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
