Primary Specialist School Teaching Assistant - Stretford

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Stretford from September 2026. The successful candidate will support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), helping them access learning, develop communication skills, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Experience working with children with complex needs is desirable, along with patience, enthusiasm, and a commitment to supporting every child's individual needs.
About the Role:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

Assist pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs and abilities.

Support communication development using a range of strategies, including visual aids, sensory approaches, and assistive communication systems.

Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, while maintaining pupils' dignity and wellbeing.

Support the delivery of sensory, therapeutic, and play-based learning activities.

Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individual education and care plans.

Ensure the safety, welfare, and safeguarding of all pupils always.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) or other special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Knowledge of sensory learning approaches and communication strategies, such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems. A nurturing, patient and proactive approach.

Understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Relevant qualifications, such as a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or SEND-related training.

An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one

References covering the last 24 months.
