We are seeking an experienced and dedicated gardener to join our established, friendly team. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture and landscape maintenance, with a passion for cultivating beautiful outdoor spaces. This role involves working on various gardening projects, maintaining plant health, and ensuring the aesthetic appeal of our clients’ gardens and landscapes. The successful applicant will have hands-on experience with a range of gardening tools and techniques, contributing to the creation and upkeep of vibrant, healthy environments.
Based in Welwyn Garden City, we are a growing landscaping and garden maintenance company delivering high-quality services to private and commercial clients throughout Hertfordshire and Essex.
Duties
- Planting, pruning, and cultivating a variety of plants, shrubs, and trees to promote healthy growth.
- Safely operating hand tools, power tools and machinery to maintain gardens effectively.
- Applying fertilisers, pesticides, and other treatments to safeguard plant health.
- Conducting garden maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, and mulching.
- Assisting with implementing planting schemes.
- Ensuring all gardening equipment is maintained in good working order and stored safely after use.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years' proven experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance roles.
- Like all our employees, the successful candidate will have a reliable, hardworking and professional attitude.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools and machinery used in gardening is essential.
- A good working knowledge of plants and horticultural practices.
- An understanding of historic gardens is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in outdoor environments.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour including digging, lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in garden care tasks.
- A valid driver’s licence is desirable for transporting equipment or visiting multiple sites.
