We are recruiting on behalf of a children's residential care provider seeking compassionate and reliable Waking Night Residential Support Workers to join their dedicated team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring children and young people feel safe, supported and cared for throughout the night. You'll help maintain a calm, nurturing environment while promoting positive outcomes and responding appropriately to the individual needs of each young person.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment throughout the night.
- Promote the wellbeing and welfare of children and young people.
- Monitor the home and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies.
- Carry out regular welfare checks in line with care plans and individual needs.
- Support young people with their night-time routines and encourage positive sleep patterns.
- Administer medication safely where required and maintain accurate records.
- Complete detailed handovers and maintain clear, accurate nightly records.
- Undertake household duties including cleaning, laundry and food preparation to maintain a safe and homely environment.
- Work closely with the daytime team to ensure continuity of care.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately.
- Promote positive behaviour in line with care plans and organisational policies.
- Participate in training, supervision and team meetings.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within a children's residential home or similar care setting.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- Flexible approach to working nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards).
- Experience supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), trauma or complex needs.
- Medication administration training.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
