Accounts Assistant – Construction / Fit-OutLocation: HA3 7Job Type: Full-TimeOffice Based
Rox Interiors is a growing fit-out and interiors contractor delivering high-quality commercial projects across London.
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant with construction industry knowledge to join our team and support the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands subcontractor-heavy environments, project costing, CIS administration, and the fast-paced nature of fit-out projects.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger
- Processing supplier and subcontractor invoices
- Matching invoices to purchase orders, delivery notes, and applications
- Accurate project and cost code allocation
- Managing supplier statement reconciliations
- Assisting with weekly and monthly payment runs
CIS & Subcontractor Administration
- Verifying subcontractors under CIS
- Managing CIS deductions and compliance records
- Processing subcontractor payments
- Issuing CIS deduction statements
- Preparing and submitting monthly CIS returns
- Reconciling CIS liabilities
Sales Ledger & Cashflow Support
- Raising sales invoices and applications for payment
- Tracking certificates, retentions, and client payments
- Monitoring aged debt and chasing overdue payments
- Supporting cashflow management
Project Cost Control & CVR Support
- Assisting with monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
- Collating labour, subcontractor, and material costs
- Comparing actual costs against budgets
- Highlighting discrepancies and overspend risks
Bank & Finance Administration
- Bank reconciliations
- Allocating receipts and payments
- Supporting month-end and year-end finance processes
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
VAT & Construction Compliance
- Supporting VAT returns
- Managing Domestic Reverse Charge VAT requirements
- Maintaining accurate audit trails and compliance records
Systems & Reporting
- Maintaining financial data within accounting systems
- Assisting with project and commercial reporting
- Ensuring alignment between finance and project management systems
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in construction or fit-out accounts
- Strong understanding of CIS
- Knowledge of Reverse Charge VAT
- High attention to detail
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
- Experience using Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software
- Understanding of job costing and CVRs
- Experience working with subcontractor-heavy businesses
