Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Core Subjects Welcome) – Bolton
Milk Education is more than a supply partner – we’re a community for educators. We’re currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Bolton on a long-term basis, starting ASAP or in September.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or other education-related professions. Graduates from core subject backgrounds including English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and the SENCO, you'll help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their academic potential.
In this varied position, you will:

Support students across a range of subjects, particularly core curriculum areas

Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to raise attainment and confidence

Assist classroom teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons

Support students with SEND and additional learning needs
-
Encourage positive behaviour and promote a productive learning environment

Help students remain focused, engaged, and motivated in lessons

Monitor and provide feedback on student progress where appropriate

Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
We're looking for someone who:
-
Holds a degree in a core subject or related discipline

Has experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)

Is passionate about education and supporting young people's development

Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Demonstrates a proactive, flexible, and positive approach

Is considering a future career in teaching or education

Understands safeguarding responsibilities and behaviour management strategies

Has experience supporting students with SEND (desirable)
