Head of Education
Salary: up to £60,000 DOE (Pro Rata)
Contract: Part Time, 4 days per week, 30 Hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Education to lead and promote exceptional educational outcomes for children and young people in our care, working with both Olive Branch Fostering and Unity Foster Care.
This is a pivotal leadership role, working in partnership with our area teams, local authorities, schools, carers, and other professionals to ensure all children receive the education, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. You will play a key role in ensuring statutory duties are met, while driving improvements in educational attainment and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion the educational achievement and progression of all children and young people in placement
- Build strong partnerships with schools, local authorities, and multi-agency professionals
- Support schools to become attachment-aware and trauma-informed
- Provide leadership across the organisation to secure high-quality education provision
- Ensure Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and EHCPs are in place, regularly reviewed, and effectively implemented
- Monitor and analyse progress, attendance, and engagement to inform planning and improve outcomes
- Oversee the use and impact of Pupil Premium Plus funding
- Ensure carers and social workers understand their role in supporting educational outcomes
- Promote the voice of children and young people, ensuring it is central to all planning and delivery
- Deliver training to staff and carers on education systems, expectations, and available provisions
- Ensure safeguarding and statutory responsibilities are consistently upheld
About You
We are looking for a confident and experienced professional who can influence, lead, and inspire across a multi-agency environment.
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and degree-level education
- Strong knowledge of the legislative framework for education and safeguarding
- Experience working with children and young people with SEND, including behavioural and learning needs
- Proven experience working collaboratively with schools and multi-agency partners
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Ability to analyse data and use insights to improve outcomes
Desirable:
- Senior leadership experience within an education or specialist service
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice
- Additional professional qualification (e.g. social work, teaching, support services
