As a Waste Operative with Sodexo, you'll enhance the services of our vibrant corporate site, offering a helping hand to ensure flawless facilities operations and keep things running smoothly.
What you'll do:

Collect and manage a variety of waste streams, including manufacturing, domestic, recyclable, and clinical waste, ensuring safe and compliant disposal procedures are followed.

Ensure all waste is correctly segregated in line with site policies and environmental standards.

Promote recycling initiatives and encourage sustainable waste management practices throughout the workplace.

Operate site equipment safely and efficiently, including forklift trucks, ride-on sweepers, waste handling machinery, and power-cleaning equipment.

Carry out daily inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting faults promptly to maintain operational efficiency.

Maintain cleanliness across waste handling areas, workshops, plant rooms, machinery, containers, and external yard areas.

Undertake minor repairs to waste bins and equipment where required.

Ensure waste containers are secure, safe, and suitable for transportation and collection.

Identify and report waste disposal issues, hazards, fire risks, security concerns, and any incidents in accordance with company procedures.

Follow Safe Systems of Work, health and safety regulations, COSHH requirements, and company policies at all times.

Support operational requirements by responding to scheduled and ad hoc tasks as required.

Participate in training and continuous development to maintain compliance and operational standards.
What you'll bring:
-
Experience within waste management, recycling, facilities, logistics, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment.

Good understanding of waste handling procedures, environmental responsibilities, and workplace safety requirements.

A valid forklift truck licence and experience operating site machinery safely (where applicable).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers, customers, and contractors.

A proactive and reliable approach with a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Excellent attention to detail when identifying hazards, compliance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
-
Ability to work independently using initiative, while also contributing positively as part of a team.
-
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational demands.
-
A strong work ethic with a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness, productivity, and customer service.
