About the role
Bring commercial confidence to complex projects and help shape the future of delivery.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team and take ownership of cost, value and commercial performance across a defined area of project delivery.
This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded professional who enjoys working closely with project teams, customers and supply chain partners to deliver high-quality outcomes while driving value for money.
What you'll be doing
- Managing all costs and income within your area of responsibility, helping to minimise project costs while maintaining quality, standards and value.
- Preparing, reviewing and analysing commercial information including activity schedules, resource schedules, tender documents, internal reports and financial reconciliations.
- Supporting commercial progress reporting and providing clear updates to senior project stakeholders.
- Reviewing contract programmes, assisting with delay and disruption assessments, and responding to subcontractor activity appropriately.
- Managing variations, compensation events and claims, including preparing, submitting and negotiating where required.
- Working closely with customers, stakeholders, subcontractors and the wider project team to manage commercial matters effectively.
- Supporting procurement activity through constructability analysis, procurement planning and strategy development.
- Leading, mentoring and developing less experienced commercial colleagues, including apprentices, trainees, graduates and assistant quantity surveyors.
Who we're looking for
You’ll bring proven quantity surveying experience, strong commercial judgement and the confidence to influence stakeholders at different levels. You’ll be organised, analytical and comfortable working with detailed commercial data, while also being able to build positive relationships across project teams, customers and supply chain partners.
- A BSc, MSc or equivalent knowledge in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
- Professional membership such as MRICS, MCInstCES or MCIOB, or evidence that you are working towards professional qualification.
- A strong understanding of commercial management, contract administration, cost control and reporting.
- Experience managing subcontractor activity, customer change, variations and claims.
- The ability to supervise, support and mentor junior members of a commercial team.
- A proactive approach to governance, continuous improvement, LEAN thinking and digital opportunities.
- A CSCS card for a professionally qualified person, or willingness to maintain the required accreditation for the role.
