Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team!
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing Marston’s own dishes, and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong background hospitality, although training will be provided for the suitable candidate.
At the Portobello Inn, we are a small kitchen team and you will be working your shifts solo, it’s perfect if you want a chance to shine, stand out, and have independence. We expect the kitchen to be cleaned throughly and maintained to the highest standard.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to specifications via Marstons handbook.
- Ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of food safety and hygiene
- Maintain kitchen and food hygiene standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste
- Train new staff members on food preparation, safety procedures, and service standards
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment at all times
Qualifications (Desired, not essential)
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Experience food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff
- Previous experience in food production, hospitality, or restaurant environments is preferred
- A passion for culinary arts and delivering exceptional customer experiences

Pay: £12.21-£12.50 per hour
