Harrison Hinchliffe Accountants is a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Glossop. We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a permanent basis.

The Role
You will be responsible for managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders and partnerships to larger limited companies across a variety of industries.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records
- Processing transactions and managing client accounts
- Completing bank reconciliations
- Preparing VAT returns
- Assisting with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
- Liaising with clients regarding bookkeeping queries
- Working with cloud-based and desktop accounting systems (Quickbooks, Xero, Sage etc)
- Supporting the wider accounts team as required
About You
We are looking for someone who is either qualified or qualified by experience and can demonstrate strong bookkeeping knowledge.
Essential requirements:
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
- Strong experience using computerised bookkeeping systems
- Confident user of Sage, Xero and/or QuickBooks
- Experience preparing VAT returns
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines
Whilst training will be provided on our internal systems and procedures, applicants should already have a solid bookkeeping background and be comfortable working independently. Hybrid working will commence after 3 months when training is complete.
