The Company
Our client is a well-established provider of refrigeration, air conditioning, and cooling solutions, supporting commercial, industrial, retail, and hospitality customers throughout Ireland and the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead their service operations team.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior management, the Service Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of the service department, ensuring engineers are effectively coordinated, customer requirements are met, and service activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.
This role would suit an experienced Service Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Service Coordinator Manager, or Senior Engineer looking to progress into a leadership position.
Key Responsibilities Service Operations
- Manage the daily activities of the service and maintenance department.
- Coordinate engineer schedules, callouts, breakdowns, and planned preventative maintenance.
- Monitor service performance, response times, and customer satisfaction levels.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of field-based engineers.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
- Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.
Customer & Commercial Management
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Act as the escalation point for service-related issues and customer queries.
- Manage service contracts and ensure customer expectations are consistently met.
- Support quotation reviews, contract renewals, and business growth opportunities.
Operational Support
- Monitor departmental performance, budgets, and profitability.
- Ensure accurate service records, reporting, and documentation are maintained.
- Work closely with engineering, projects, and administration teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the service function.
Requirements Essential
- Previous experience in a Service Manager, Engineering Manager, Service Supervisor, or similar leadership role.
- Experience managing engineers.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and service management systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Technical background in refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- Experience managing engineers within refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC, facilities management, or a technical service environment.
- Experience managing maintenance contracts and service delivery operations.
