A career opportunity has arisen for an Extrusion Production Operative at Centaur Manufacturing.
Centaur is an established manufacturing business based in Redditch, Worcestershire since 1974. Our principle activity is the manufacture of PVC-U cable management systems supplied to the electrical industry via 400 electrical distributors throughout the United Kingdom.
The Centaur extrusion section currently operates 24 hours per day, 4 days per week (6am - 6pm and 6pm – 6am). Periodically, due to increasing business demands, the section has been required to work different shifts and therefore the successful candidate needs to be flexible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup & Operation: Prepares extrusion lines by adjusting temperature profiles, line speeds, and pressure controls. Feeds raw materials (granules, pellets, or powder) into the machine hopper.
- Quality Control: Conducts routine dimensional and gauge checks using micrometers or verniers. Inspects products for defects (e.g., surface marks or inconsistent thickness). Quality control inspections are performed electronically.
- Preventative Maintenance: Performs basic cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes to minimize equipment wear and avoid downtime. Troubleshoots blockages or irregular melt flow.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintains a safe, clean work area, strictly following health and safety standards.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual, with a high attention to detail, good people skills and a proven track record of managing their workload by priority. They will also be proactive in their approach to work with the ability to work to a deadline in a fast-paced environment. The role is hands on and can be physically demanding.
