Lead the care teams and provide direct, person-centered support to individuals with complex needs. Responsibilities include managing care plans, administering medication, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health regulations. They act as the bridge between care assistants, management, and medical professionals.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Mentoring: Oversee shift teams, conduct staff spot-checks, and train new starters.
- Medication Administration: Safely dispense medicines and manage MAR (Medication Administration Record) charts.
- Care Planning: Develop, review, and update individual, person-centered care plans and risk assessments.
- Personal Care: Assist residents with daily tasks, including bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Family Liaison: Communicate regularly with residents' families regarding their progress and overall well-being.
- Health Monitoring: Track vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight) and report any changes to management or medical staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in caregiving or a supervisory role within a care home or domiciliary setting.
- Education: Typically requires a Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health & Social Care (or working towards it).
- Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication, and a patient, empathetic nature.
