At Derwen College we support young people with learning disabilities, autism, complex behavioural and medical needs to develop independence, confidence, and life skills within our residential community. We are looking for Support Practitioners to provide consistent, positive support and care to our students so they can achieve things they may never have believed possible.
This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to empower young people to build confidence, develop life skills, and experience new opportunities both within college and in the wider community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Encouraging independence and promoting confidence and life skills development
- Supporting students with complex behavioural and medical needs
- Supporting students with personal care and daily living skills
- Administering medication and supporting safe self-medication
- Providing pastoral care and emotional support
- Supporting students at mealtimes and social activities
- Undertaking delegated healthcare activities
This role is ideal for people with experience in:
· Autism and learning disability services
· Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
· Mental health or therapeutic support
· Challenging behaviour environments
· Specialist education or residential care
· Youth work
A Health & Social Care qualification (or similar) is desirable, but not essential — full training will be provided.
