Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sushi Chef to join our culinary team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi, and possess strong skills in food preparation and presentation. Duties
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision and attention to detail
- Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen at all times
- Assist in meal preparation for service periods, including cutting, rolling, and plating sushi
- Monitor ingredient freshness and manage stock levels to ensure availability of quality products
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation during busy service hours
- Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Serve dishes to customers when required, providing excellent customer service
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a chef within a restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and presentation skills
- Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in a professional kitchen
- Previous experience in culinary roles specialising in Japanese cuisine is desirable
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in serving or customer interaction is advantageous
