Here at Head Start Day Nursery we put the children first but we look after you too. As a Childcare Practitioner working in a small, busy Nursery, you can join our dedicated team to further enhance our extended building to provide quality care.
We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Practitioner to join our team, providing high-quality care and educational support to children of various ages. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes children's development and well-being. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with children, including those with special needs, and contribute positively to their growth and learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and age-appropriate activities that support children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development
- Supervise children during playtime, mealtimes, nap times, and organised activities ensuring their safety at all times
- Assist with behavioural management and promote positive interactions among children
- Support children with special educational needs or disabilities through tailored activities and personalised care plans
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behaviour, and any concerns
- Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment that complies with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement developmental programmes aligned with organisational goals
- Support children's transition between activities and provide individualised attention as needed
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in a childcare setting or similar environment is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of special education principles and working with individuals with disabilities is advantageous
- Experience in teaching or tutoring young children will be highly regarded
- Strong communication skills essential for engaging effectively with children, parents, and team members
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team while also showing initiative in caring for children independently
- Experience caring for toddlers or young children is desirable but not essential; training will be provided where necessary
