Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements and preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils
- Manage stock levels and ensure ingredients are stored appropriately
- Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Assist with meal portioning, presentation, and ensuring timely delivery of food
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special dietary requests or restrictions
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles, preferably within a care home or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience in meal planning and preparation for diverse dietary needs
- Previous kitchen experience in a restaurant or catering setting is desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills and a friendly manner when serving residents
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Relevant food safety certification
Pay: £14.00 per hour
