Job Title: Keeper, Aquarist, and Animal Care Trainer Coach - Freelance
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,000 - £33,000 per annum

To actively manage a caseload of learners and deliver our Keeper, Aquarist, and Animal care qualifications ensuring compliance with the Department of Education (DfE) funding rules. You will work closely with learners, employers, the Curriculum Specialist for Functional Skills, and IQAs to ensure a high level of quality throughout every stage of the learner journey. Our blended learning model offers a combination of Face to Face and Remote delivery, bespoke to each learner.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
We are looking for a high performing, qualified, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the team. Experience of Apprenticeship Standards delivery and the differences in the sector post reforms is highly desirable.
You will manage and teach a caseload of learners studying towards Animal Care, Keeper and Aquarist apprenticeships, supporting the entire learner journey, including:
· Enrolment/induction and initial assessment
· Keeper, Aquarist and Animal Care sector teaching, learning and assessment
· Coaching/mentoring learners to succeed
· Supporting the delivery of Functional Skills English and Maths
· Supporting the wider curriculum (PREVENT, British Values, Safeguarding, ICT, Information, Advice and Guidance, etc.)
· Completing interim and mock end point assessments
· Correct completion of mandatory paperwork to evidence all aspects of the learner journey to an auditable standard
You will work closely with learners and employers and report to your Area Manager. You will work closely with the Curriculum Specialist for Functional Skills and IQAs to ensure a high level of quality throughout delivery of all animal care programmes.

Essential Criteria
Essential industry specific qualifications and experience:
· Substantial experience working with zoo or aquatic animals (usually acquired through five years of hands-on experience or comparable professional background)
· Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Animal Science or Husbandry such as DMZAA
· Degree Level qualification in Zoology, Animal Science or Behaviour or equivalent
· Genuine interest in animals, their welfare and conservation
· Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
· A true passion for learning, development, and future proofing the industry
· Commitment to continued professional development of vocational skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Passion for work-based learning
· Up-to-date, relevant, deep and broad experience of working within the animal industry
· Experience in the occupational area of the apprenticeships including practical and current knowledge of working practices, infrastructure, tools and technologies to support applications.
· Occupational competence with a comprehensive and proven track record of service in the animal industry supported by a detailed and documented CPD record
Essential qualifications and experience:
· Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Animal Science or Husbandry such as DMZAA
· Degree Level qualification in Zoology, Animal Science or Behaviour or equivalent
· Genuine interest in animals, their welfare and conservation
· Experience working within the animal care sector
· Commitment to continuous professional development relevant to the industry area being assessed.
Essential knowledge and skills:
· Excellent integrity and interpersonal skills
· Customer focused commercial awareness
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with substantive experience of providing supportive, concise feedback to learners, assessors and key stakeholders
· Ability to offer guidance on careers advice and next steps after completing an Apprenticeship
· Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
· Proficient IT skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
· Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
● · Full UK Driving Licence with Business Cover Insurance (A copy of your insurance will be requested upon offer)
Desirable Criteria
· Holding or working towards an assessor qualification (A1/A2/D32/D33/TAQA or equivalent qualification)
· Level 2 Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT
· Experience of preparing for and presenting to a target audience
· Experience of marking and grading assessments
· Relevant teaching qualification (minimum PTTLS) or Education and Training Level 3 or 4
· Experience of working with and maintaining quality assurance processes and complying with regulatory requirements
· An understanding of Apprenticeship Standards, with specific knowledge about the relevant industry area for the role
· Experience of producing clear, accurate and concise written reports, including remarks/enquiries about results
· Excellent investigative skills
· Analytical, critical thinking skills
