Major Projects Manager
Location: East of England
Salary: To: £65,000 depending on experience
We are seeking an experienced Major Projects Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex multi-utility infrastructure projects across the Eastern region of the UK.
This is a pivotal role responsible for managing a portfolio of projects spanning civils, gas, electricity, water, fibre, and district heating networks. From pre-commencement through to commissioning and final adoption, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Role:
You will act as a key client interface, building strong relationships while driving operational excellence and compliance across all project activities.
Key Responsibilities

Manage major multi-utility infrastructure projects from inception through to completion

Oversee installations including mains, services, substations/PRIs, excavation, reinstatement, testing, commissioning and energisation

Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, and compliance requirements

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and communication

Conduct site visits, audits, and oversee contractors and delivery teams

Lead pre-commencement meetings and coordinate all stakeholders

Monitor financial performance including forecasting, cost control, and variations

Ensure accurate project documentation, reporting, and system updates

Manage procurement and usage of materials and resources effectively

Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance across all projects

Support mentoring and development of junior team members
What You’ll Need:
Experience & Knowledge
-
Significant experience (10+ years) managing utility or infrastructure projects

Strong background in multi-utility / power distribution and DNO environments
-
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

Excellent problem-solving skills and experience handling escalated issues

Strong commercial awareness including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control

In-depth understanding of H&S legislation and CDM regulations
