Job Summary
The Castle Inn is looking to add an experienced, full time chef to our kitchen team. This is a permanent position with a guaranteed rate of pay from £16 per hour (including service charge) working 36 to 42 hours per week, paid weekly! We are looking to move to a 4-day working week for all kitchen staff and overnight accommodation may be available when working back to back shifts
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise within a professional kitchen environment, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The Chef de Partie will work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to maintain efficient operations and uphold our reputation for excellence.
A knowledge of butchery, stock taking, and GP calculation would be advantageous but not essential
You will have a full knowledge of health and safety and the relevant qualifications
Duties
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Oversee specific sections of the kitchen, such as fish, meat, or pastry stations
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to at all times
- Assist in the development of new menu items and culinary techniques
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations before, during, and after service
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods
- Train junior staff members on proper food preparation and safety procedures
- Ensure consistent quality in meal presentation and taste
Qualifications
- A least one year's experience cooking hot side in a fresh food kitchen
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Formal culinary training or relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
- A passion for creating high-quality dishes and delivering exceptional customer service
Pay: £16.00-£17.00 per hour
