Summary
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Transport Manager to oversee and coordinate all aspects of our transportation operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods and materials, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and company standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, routing optimization, and fleet management skills to drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage all transport operations, including routing, scheduling, and dispatching of vehicles.
- Ensure full compliance with transport laws, regulations, and licensing (e.g., DOT, HGV, DVSA).
- Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and performance of the company’s fleet, including vehicles, trailers, and related equipment.
- Monitor transport budgets, fuel usage, maintenance costs, and implement cost-control measures.
- Supervise and train drivers, dispatchers, and transport staff, enforcing safety protocols and performance standards.
- Coordinate with warehousing, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Investigate and resolve delivery issues, delays, and transport-related complaints.
- Develop and implement transportation policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery rate, fleet utilization, and safety metrics.
- Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes, proactively adapting processes to remain compliant and competitive.
Qualifications
- Previous Experience in transport or fleet management, preferably in a logistics, manufacturing, or distribution setting.
- Strong knowledge of national and international transport laws and regulations.
- Experience with route planning, transport management systems (TMS), and GPS fleet tracking.
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license; Transport.
Salary and Benefits
- £30,000 - £37,000

The hours for this role are 8:00am - 5:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am - 3:30pm on Fridays.
Pay: £30,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
