We are currently looking for a caring and reliable Cook to join our team at The Old Vicarage, a charming 44-bed residential care home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield.
About the Role
As a Cook, you will play a key role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious, appetising meals that support their health and wellbeing. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a fresh breakfast each morning, as well as preparing fresh produce and accompaniments to complement daily meals. You will help maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen organisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking a fresh breakfast for residents each morning
- Preparing fresh fruit, vegetables, salads, and other produce to accompany meals
- Planning and preparing daily meals in line with dietary requirements and preferences
- Ensuring all food is prepared, cooked, and presented to a high standard
- Ordering food, ingredients, and kitchen supplies to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained
- Monitoring stock levels, supporting stock control, stock rotation, and the safe storage of food supplies
- Minimising waste through effective stock management
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas
- Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required
- Ensuring food safety, allergen management, and hygiene regulations are followed at all times
- Helping create a positive dining experience for our residents through quality food and excellent service
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen and meal service operations

- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
- Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, stock control, and stock rotation
