About the Role
We are looking for a Taxi Licensing Service Support Officer to join our Licensing team. You will support the administration of taxi licensing services for private hire vehicles, hackney carriages, drivers, and private hire operators across North Northamptonshire.
The role involves processing licence applications, maintaining accurate records, providing advice to customers and licence holders, and ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation, council policies, and data protection requirements. You will work closely with colleagues, licence holders, and partner agencies to help deliver an efficient and professional service.
Key Requirements
- Educated to GCSE level (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
- Experience of taxi licensing administration and knowledge of relevant taxi licensing legislation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to deal professionally with customers, colleagues, elected members, and external agencies.
- Good IT skills, including experience using case management systems and Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process taxi licence applications for drivers, vehicles, and operators in line with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Provide advice and support to customers and members of the taxi and private hire trade.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on licensing databases while ensuring compliance with Data Protection requirements.
- Produce and issue licences within agreed timescales and escalate concerns where formal action may be required.
- Deliver excellent customer service and support continuous improvement of the licensing service.
