Pastoral Assistant – Secondary School – Birkenhead
Full-Time Role | September Start | Until October Half Term
Excell Supply are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Birkenhead on a full-time basis from September until October half term.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people's wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role
As a Pastoral Assistant, you will:
- Provide pastoral support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to promote wellbeing and engagement.
- Support students with attendance, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
- Work closely with Heads of Year, teaching staff, and safeguarding teams.
- Help students overcome barriers to learning and access support where needed.
- Monitor and support students throughout the school day.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage a safe and inclusive school environment.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, care, support work, or a similar setting.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong behaviour management and conflict resolution skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
