Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Community Maintenance Team Operative to join our team and contribute to the upkeep and enhancement of local communal spaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks, including landscaping, gardening, and general repairs, ensuring that community areas remain safe, attractive, and well-maintained. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for outdoor work and hands-on maintenance activities to develop their skills within a supportive environment.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- To provide a quality, effective and efficient cleansing operation service within the Birchwood area.
- To sweep and litter pick, remove fly tipping, detritus, dog fouling and to empty and clean waste receptacles as required.
- Cleaning road signs and removal of graffiti.
- To carry out strimming, hedgecutting, and other landscaping and maintenance work within Birchwood (after relevant training) and to assist with clearing areas during/following hedgecutting or landscaping work, using blowers/brushes.
- Maintenance of planters.
- Any other general maintenance related duties as, and when, required.
Essential and Desirable requirements:
- Some heavy lifting will be required as part of the role therefore candidates must be able to lift up to 25 kg.
- A flexible, proactive approach to work and be able to work as part of a team or on your own initiative.
- Full, clean UK driving licence (manual) is required. Applicants must also be prepared to drive electric (automatic) vehicles.
- Willing to undertake appropriate training.
- An understanding of health and safety.
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

- The role will involve the successful applicant working outside in all weather conditions.
- An applicant who is offered the job, will be required to : provide proof they have the right to work in the UK, provide two work references preferably (or one work reference and one character reference if they only have one previous employment) and undertake a health check prior to starting work.
