We are looking for a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our management team and help deliver exceptional, person-centred care within our welcoming care home.
This is a shared Deputy Manager role, working in partnership with another Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership and management of the care home. Together, you will share responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of the service, maintaining consistent leadership, effective communication, and high standards of care. A strong collaborative relationship with your fellow Deputy Manager is essential to ensure continuity, seamless handovers, shared decision-making, and a consistent approach to managing the home.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care that reflects the home's values and complies with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, statutory requirements, and relevant legislation. You will lead, supervise, and motivate staff, promote a positive and supportive culture, and contribute to a safe, caring, and welcoming environment for residents, their families, visitors, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with the Home Manager and fellow Deputy Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the care home.
- Maintain regular communication and handovers with the other Deputy Manager to ensure continuity of care and operational consistency.
- Lead, supervise, and support staff to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
- Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and resident records are accurate, up to date, and compliant.
- Promote residents' dignity, independence, wellbeing, and safeguarding at all times.
- Assist with staff recruitment, induction, training, supervision, and performance management.
- Monitor compliance with CQC regulations, company policies, and health and safety requirements.
- Support quality assurance through audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure safe medication management in line with legislation and organisational procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
- Assist with staffing rotas, admissions, and other administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the home.
Person Specification
Essential
- Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or Level 3 if working towards level 5)
- Previous experience in a senior care role.
- Knowledge of CQC standards and adult safeguarding.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
- Competent IT and record-keeping skills.
- Experience with electronic care planning systems.
Desirable
- Experience of CQC inspections and quality assurance.
- Medication management experience.
The position will be on a rota basis working 3 x 12 hour shifts per week. You will be required to alternate weekends.
Shifts are 8am-8pm.
Successful candidates will be required to have enhanced DBS check.
