We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our children’s residential home in Fareham. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to providing high-quality care and support to children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, and abuse.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key leadership role within the home, supporting the Registered Manager and helping to ensure a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where young people can thrive.
About the Role
You will be responsible for supporting children and young people with their daily routines, emotional wellbeing, education, and personal development, while also helping to lead and guide the staff team on shift.
This role requires someone who can remain calm under pressure, confidently manage challenging behaviours, and act as a positive role model for both young people and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the staff team, delegating tasks and ensuring shifts are effectively planned and managed
- Mentor and supervise junior team members while undertaking delegated management responsibilities and on-call duties as required
- Support the Registered Manager in maintaining safeguarding standards, regulatory compliance, and best practice within the home
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment while confidently challenging poor practice and raising concerns when necessary
- Support young people with daily routines, education, life skills, emotional wellbeing, and individual care plans
- Manage behaviours that may challenge while recognising and celebrating progress, achievements, and positive outcomes
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, including attendance at professionals’ meetings and keyworker responsibilities
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 (or 4) Residential Childcare
- Right to work full-time in the UK (no restrictions)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Previous experience working within children’s residential care, support work, or a similar care setting
