About Us
Encompass Environmental is looking to recruit a highly motivated and reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for carrying out vegetation clearance and control across a range of environments, including railway infrastructure, stations, ports, and local authority sites throughout the UK.
Essential Qualifications (or Lantra equivalent)
Candidates must hold one or more of the following:
- NPTC PA1/PA6 – Safe Use of Pesticides / Herbicide Application
- NPTC Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-Cutting and Felling
- NPTC Chainsaw from Rope and Harness
- NPTC Certificate in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue
- NPTC Level 2 Brushcutter
Additional Requirements
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) – training will be provided at a Network Rail-approved training centre
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check prior to commencing employment
Working Away
Due to the nature of our projects, you will be required to lodge away from home. All accommodation will be provided, along with a food allowance.

- Encompass Environmental operates a strict Drugs and Alcohol Policy
- All new recruits must undergo drug and alcohol testing and a medical at a Network Rail-approved centre
