About the Role
We are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants / Behaviour Mentors to join a supportive secondary school setting in Hyde for both immediate (ASAP) starts and September 2026 placements.
This role involves supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage with learning, develop positive behaviours, and build confidence both inside and outside of the classroom.
You will work closely with teaching staff to provide in-class support alongside 1:1 mentoring, helping students overcome barriers to learning within a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH needs within the classroom environment
- Provide 1:1 support and mentoring for students requiring additional guidance
- Help students manage behaviour and regulate emotions
- Assist teachers with delivering lessons and supporting learning activities
- Build positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence, and progress
- Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Support behaviour strategies and interventions implemented by the school
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who are patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people.
Experience is preferred but not essential. We welcome applicants with transferable skills and backgrounds including:
- Schools or educational settings
- SEMH, SEN, or behaviour support roles
- Youth work or mentoring
- Care or support work
- Coaching or community-based roles
