Availability requirements: We will be running 2 Saturday shifts: 8am-1pm & 12pm-5pm.
Job Type: Part-time, Casual Contract. The potential for optional overtime, especially during school holidays.
Contract Term: Starting from Saturday 4th July 2026. We would always look to give a minimum of 24 hours’ notice of work available, where possible.
Interview: If successful with your application, we will invite you to a paid 5-hour trial shift.

Black Liquorice Company Ltd is composed of many parts. We import, manufacture and package liquorice, confectionery and gifting to sell to the trade and public. We design products and packaging in-house for BLC and our clients. We also co-pack and distribute products for ourselves and our clients. The company is dynamic and ever-evolving, which creates a varied and fulfilling environment for its employees.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Confectionary Manufacturer to join our dedicated team at BLC. You would play a crucial role in our coating team, which is based in our on-site factory.
Under the instruction of our Head of Production and Team Leader, you will be coating sweets to order as part of a team.
You may also be required to help move trays of coated sweets to our warehouse for packing, and join in with packing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Operation
- To start, monitor, and adjust manufacturing machinery to ensure smooth operations.
- Material Handling
- Measure, weigh, grade, and feed raw materials or components into production lines.
- Quality Assurance
- Conduct visual inspections to ensure finished goods meet the required safety and industry standards.
- Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations at all times.
- Maintenance
- Perform basic troubleshooting, routine cleaning, and preventative maintenance on machines; report major faults to maintenance technicians.
- Documentation
- Record production data accurately, including material usage, batch numbers, and output quantities.
- General Responsibilities
- Working quickly and efficiently to meet targets while maintaining high quality.
- Monitor inventory levels of materials and inform the supervisor when stock is low.
- Collaborating with other team members and departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Participating in training sessions as required to improve skills and knowledge of procedures.
- Identifying processes which can be improved and discussing constructively with the team.
Requirements:
- Education:
- GCSE level or above.
- Desirable Experience:
- Interest or experience in the food industry, particularly confectionery products, is a plus.
- Essential Skills:
- The ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- High precision to catch manufacturing defects and ensure measurements are accurate.
- The ability to work efficiently and meet targets.
- Understanding of safety procedures and hygiene standards.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with shift leaders, supply chain staff, and other teams.
- Physical Requirements:
- Fit and able-bodied.
- The ability to perform repetitive tasks, to stand for extended periods, and safely lift heavy materials (occasionally up to 15kg, but normally much less).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- The working environment is noisy, but full protective equipment is provided.
