The Guy Fawkes Inn is one of York's most iconic hospitality venues, combining a historic city-centre location with a boutique hotel, traditional pub, and restaurant. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Hotel Manager to support the daily operations of our esteemed hospitality establishment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent guest service skills, and a comprehensive understanding of hotel management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a welcoming environment, ensuring guest satisfaction and operational excellence. The Assistant Hotel Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee staff, optimise service delivery, and uphold the organisation’s standards of hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, and food & beverage services
- Supervise and support hotel staff, ensuring high levels of guest service and team performance
- Handle guest enquiries, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and efficiency
- Coordinate reservations, check-ins, and check-outs to optimise occupancy rates
- Support human resources functions such as recruitment, training, and staff scheduling
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and hotel policies
- Promote a positive organisational culture centred on hospitality excellence
- Assist in organising events or conferences hosted at the hotel when required
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and enjoys leading from the front.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Hotel Manager, Assistant Hotel Manager, Front Office Manager, Duty Manager, or similar hospitality management role.
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations, reservations systems, and guest service standards.
- Experience working within boutique hotels, inns, pubs with rooms, or hospitality venues.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- A hands-on approach with the flexibility to support different areas of the business when required.

Pay: £31,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
