Job Title: Assistant Manager - Events & Operations
Reports To: General Manager and Deputy Manager(s)
Role Overview:
Malone's Edinburgh is launching an exciting new function space, and we are looking for a hands-on, hospitality first, commercially minded manager to help bring it to life. This role combines day-to-day duty management with ownership of bookings and events, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys building memorable guest experiences.
The successful candidate will support daily operations, develop and sell event packages, manage event enquiries and bookings, and ensure every event runs smoothly from first contact through to follow-up and repeat business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a duty manager, including opening and closing the venue and overseeing smooth day-to-day operations
- Take ownership of event and function enquiries from initial contact through to confirmation and delivery
- Contact booking leads promptly and professionally to convert enquiries into confirmed business
- Develop, refine and sell event packages suited to guest needs and business goals
- Coordinate all event details with customers and internal teams to ensure excellent execution
- Oversee the running of events on the day or night, acting as the main operational point of contact
- Build strong relationships with guests to encourage repeat bookings and positive word of mouth
- Follow up after events to gather feedback and identify future booking opportunities
- Work closely with the General Manager and Deputy Manager to support revenue growth and operational standards
- Help shape processes and standards for the new function space as it launches and grows
- Support, lead and motivate the wider team during busy service periods and events
- Ensure high standards of customer service, presentation, compliance and venue readiness at all times
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Previous management or supervisory experience in hospitality, events or venue operations
- Strong understanding of venue operations, including opening, closing and service leadership
- Experience handling bookings, private events, functions or group reservations
- Commercially aware, with confidence in upselling and converting enquiries into revenue
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Comfortable taking ownership and working collaboratively with senior management
- Passionate about guest experience and creating successful events
· (Preferred) Full clean drivers license and comfortable driving the company van
Salary: Circa £29,000
In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for a performance-based bonus package linked to key commercial and guest experience outcomes.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £28,500.00-£29,500.00 per year
