Domestic Assistant with Catering Duties – Band 2
Location: Spring Meadows Children’s Home, Antrim
Hours: 20 hours per week (4 hours per day)
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday with the opportunity to work one weekend per month
Salary: Band 2

About the Role
We are recruiting a Domestic Assistant with Catering Duties to join the team at Spring Meadows Children’s Home within the Children and Young People Division.
The role involves providing high‑quality cleaning, food service support, and maintaining a safe, hygienic environment for children and staff.
As stated in the job description, “The Domestic Assistant provides general cleaning, children food service and associated duties.”
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for a range of domestic and catering duties, including:
- General cleaning, including floors, sanitary areas, furniture, fittings, and high/low‑level dusting
- Use of vacuum cleaners, buffing machines and floor scrubbers
- Cleaning walls, windows, glass partitions and periodic deep‑clean tasks such as carpet cleaning
- Waste collection and disposal, replenishing soaps, hand towels and toilet rolls
- Receipt and safe storage of cleaning materials
- Food service duties, including plating meals, serving food to children and staff, and replenishing supplies
- Ensuring correct food safety procedures for storage, regeneration and temperature control of meals
- Securing the building when required (may include alarm systems)
- Following all Trust policies, including Infection Prevention & Control and Health & Safety requirements

- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Understanding of confidentiality
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends if required
- Willingness to complete mandatory training, including Basic Food Hygiene
Pay: £12.71 per hour
