PURPOSE AND MAIN DUTIES OF POST
The main purpose of the role is to undertake teaching and learning activities across all year groups ranging from Reception to Year 6 as well as our SEN resource provision, under the direction and supervision of a qualified teachers, in accordance with arrangements made by the Headteacher of the school.
It is expected that HLTA will demonstrate competency in the following three inter-related areas as set out in the Professional Standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistants:

- Knowledge and understanding
- Teaching and Learning activities
We are looking for someone who:
- is flexible and positive
- has successful experience of working with children across the primary years
- has good knowledge of the expectations in English and Maths in the primary years
- relates well to children and adults
- works constructively and efficiently as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and their own position within these
- contributes to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- has good personal numeracy and literacy skills
- has HLTA qualification or working towards this
Responsibilities
- Cover PPA time and classes as and where needed
- Provide support to the whole class, small groups and on a 1:1 basis across RKS1 and KS2
- Encourage children to complete work to the best of their ability
- Increase children's self-esteem by pointing out the good in their work
- Support the class teacher in delivering exciting and engaging lessons
- Manage behaviour throughout the school day
Requirements
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude to support learning
- Recent and relevant experience of working with young children
- A caring and nurturing personality
- Excellent communication skills
- A HLTA qualification or relevant experience in this role
