Overview
Junior sous chef position. Set days off. Approximately 45-48 hours per week over 5 days. Excellent monthly TRONC share. 10.30pm finishes, working closely alongside owner. Over 25's candidates are preferred but not essential. Previous experience in formal elegant dining is a must, ideally you must have some experience of classic French cuisine with fish cookery a bonus. Candidates must be cross trained in pass, stove and on garnish. An extremely busy small restaurant with superb credentials in its first two years. Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation and cooking processes to ensure timely delivery of dishes
- Support senior chefs with kitchen organisation and cleanliness to maintain health and safety standards
- Supervise junior team members and coordinate tasks during shifts to optimise workflow
- Contribute to menu planning and presentation, ensuring consistency and quality of dishes
- Manage stock levels, monitor ingredient freshness, and assist with inventory control
- Uphold food safety regulations at all times, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures
- Provide excellent customer service by supporting serving staff when required
- Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices
Requirements
- Proven experience in food production, kitchen operations, or hospitality environments
- Supervising experience or team management skills are highly desirable
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and culinary techniques
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices within a professional kitchen setting
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
- Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude towards team work
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is key
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required
