Your Duties:
- Support the Arts and Events Technical Officer with the technical management and delivery of arts events, performances, conferences, and other activities across Council facilities.
- Operate and support audio visual equipment, including digital sound systems, digital lighting systems, projection, staging, and associated technical equipment.
- Assist with the design, set-up, operation, dismantling, and maintenance of lighting, sound, projection, and staging requirements for performances and events.
- Assist with the organisation of technical requirements for visiting companies, performers, and external clients, acting as a key point of contact between hirers and Council staff.
- Provide technical arts support services to staff, hirers, and users, including room preparation, exhibitions, equipment handling, storage, packing, lighting, and installation.
- Support the supervision, scheduling, and monitoring of technical workers and volunteers while working within Council venues.
- Ensure staff, users, and volunteers are aware of relevant technical procedures, health and safety requirements, evacuation procedures, and public responsibilities.
- Monitor the condition, safety, and operational effectiveness of technical equipment, assisting with maintenance, stock control, and replacement recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, Council policies, procedures, quality standards, and approved working practices.
- Carry out other reasonable duties relevant to the role, including supporting team cover during staff absence, breaks, leave, or vacancies.
Your Profile:
- 2 A-levels (Grades A–C), a relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent.
Minimum of three years’ experience in one of the following areas:
- Technical operation, programming, and maintenance of sound systems used in musical performances, including digital mixing consoles and related software.
- Technical operation, programming, and maintenance of stage lighting systems, including computer-controlled consoles and related software.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within an events environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Where applicants do not hold the required qualification, they must demonstrate a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in technical event operations.
Desirable:
- Experience working across both sound and lighting technical disciplines.
- Experience supporting live performances, concerts, conferences, and large-scale events.
- Knowledge of current event production practices and technical equipment.
Assignment Details:
- Part-time, Temporary.
- Casual hours, as and when required.
