This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping the educational journey of pupils within supportive and forward-thinking school environments.
As an SEN Mentor, you will be instrumental in supporting the development and progress of children with complex needs. Your role is vital in ensuring continuity of learning, providing emotional support, and maintaining a stimulating environment for every pupil you work with.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specialist Support: Take responsibility for mentoring students in SEN settings, ensuring high-quality support and learning continues seamlessly.
- Adaptability: Provide emergency cover and 1-to-1 intervention at short notice, adapting quickly to support children and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
- Independence: Help children build strong foundations, managing behavioral challenges and enabling them to be as independent as possible.
- Curriculum Engagement: Develop and enhance designated areas of learning within the SEN environment, contributing to a rich and engaging curriculum tailored to individual needs.
What we are looking for:
- Passion for SEN: A genuine desire to inspire, mentor, and support young learners with additional needs.
- Full time across Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 4:00pm
- Leadership Qualities: Experience in leading activities or mentoring individuals, ideally within complex needs settings.
- Team Player: Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and pupils.
- Empathy & Adaptability: Experience supporting children with diverse needs, demonstrating patience and a flexible approach.
- Organisational Skills: The ability to manage multiple priorities and respond calmly to changing situations.
- Foundational Knowledge: Sound knowledge of reading, phonics, and maths to deliver targeted group or individual sessions.
- Communication: Outstanding interpersonal skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
