We are delighted to be supporting this highly successful Motor Group based in Aberdeen with depots across Scotland, in their search for a motivated IT Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that delivers exceptional customer service and automative expertise.
As a Field Service Apprentice, you will be joining the IT team based out of one of the Aberdeen Depots where you will commence your career in IT and gain a nationally recognised qualification in IT on the completion of your apprenticeship. You will be supported through your apprenticeship by your own personal assessor from Elite Training as well as your peers and mentors within the IT Department.
Your role will be varied to allow you to gain as much exposure as possible across the whole IT Department, learning while you are earning.
Role Purpose
To provide high-quality, responsive IT support across dealership sites and remotely via the ServiceDesk, ensuring reliable operation of IT systems, infrastructure, and end-user technology.
This role combines on-site field support and remote 1st line support, acting as a key link between the ServiceDesk and dealership operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Field & Onsite Support
- Deliver on-site IT support across dealership locations
- Install, configure and deploy end-user devices (PCs, laptops, tablets, mobiles)
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, network, and Wi-Fi issues
- Act as the on-site IT representative, liaising with staff and management
- Coordinate third-party engineers and suppliers when required
ServiceDesk & Remote Support
- Provide 1st line support via the ServiceDesk
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents remotely where possible
- Accurately log, update, and manage tickets to agreed SLAs
- Escalate issues appropriately to 2nd line or specialist teams
Infrastructure & Systems Support
- Support core IT systems including:
- Microsoft 365
- Windows desktops and user environments
- Network infrastructure (switches, Wi-Fi, connectivity)
- Assist with site setups and infrastructure upgrades
- Support automotive systems (e.g. workshop diagnostics, showroom tech)
Asset & Equipment Management
- Build, configure and deploy IT equipment
- Track and manage IT assets through their lifecycle
- Ensure proper handover and documentation of issued equipment
Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to root cause analysis
- Suggest improvements to reduce repeat incidents and improve service
- Support standardisation and automation initiatives where appropriate

Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Willingness to travel regularly between sites
- Basic understanding of IT systems and hardware (or working towards)
- Commitment to completing apprenticeship
- Out of Hours work to support projects as required
Career Development
This role is part of the Group IT Engineer Development Pathway, progressing through:
- Apprentice IT Technician
- IT Field Service Technician
- Field Engineer / 2nd Line Support /or Business Systems Analyst
Development includes:
- Structured training and certifications
- Exposure to infrastructure, systems, and projects
- Increasing responsibility and technical ownership
