About the Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help deliver engaging lessons and provide targeted support to students. You will gain first-hand experience of classroom practice while supporting pupils academically, socially, and emotionally.
This role is particularly well-suited to aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, youth workers, or graduates looking to gain meaningful experience working with children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support classroom teaching and learning across a range of subjects and year groups.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning and improve outcomes.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and resource management.
- Provide additional support to students who require extra guidance to access the curriculum.
- Help promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement in lessons.
- Support students with varying learning needs and abilities.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, helping to boost their confidence and motivation.
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
Requirements
- A degree in any subject area.
- A genuine passion for education and supporting young people in their learning journey.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- A proactive, positive, and professional attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Previous experience working with children, young people, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
