Cardington Joinery specialises in the manufacture and restoration of high-quality bespoke timber joinery for heritage, listed, and high-end residential properties across the UK.
We produce traditional and bespoke timber windows, doors, staircases, cabinetry, and architectural joinery using a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern machinery. Our work focuses on quality, attention to detail, and preserving the character of historic buildings while delivering exceptional results for our clients.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Bench Joiner to join our workshop team.
The Role
The successful candidate will work within our workshop producing high-quality bespoke joinery items to detailed drawings and specifications. The role requires a strong eye for detail, pride in craftsmanship, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Projects will include:
- Traditional timber sash windows
- Casement windows
- External and internal doors
- Staircases
- Bespoke cabinetry
- Heritage and conservation joinery
- High-end residential joinery
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture bespoke timber joinery to a high standard
- Read and work from technical drawings and cutting lists
- Operate workshop machinery safely and efficiently
- Assemble windows, doors, frames, staircases, and bespoke joinery items
- Carry out machining, sanding, fitting, and finishing preparation
- Use both traditional hand tools and modern woodworking equipment
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards
- Work with hardwoods, softwoods, and specialist materials
- Assist with workshop organisation and housekeeping
- Support installation teams when required
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential:
- Proven experience as a Bench Joiner or Carpenter/Joiner
- Strong woodworking and joinery skills
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Experience using woodworking machinery and hand tools
- Good understanding of timber and joinery construction methods
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong work ethic and reliability
Desirable:
- Experience producing heritage or conservation joinery
- Experience manufacturing timber windows and doors
- Knowledge of traditional joinery methods
- Workshop machinery qualifications
- Spray finishing experience
- Full UK driving licence
