OaklandsCare Home is a warm and welcoming 31-bed Home, dedicated to providing person-centred care in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. We specialise in supporting older adults, including those living with dementia , as well as providing end-of-life and palliative care with compassion and dignity.
We are currently seeking an experienced and committed Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our close-knit team. This role plays a key part in leading care delivery, supporting junior Staff, and ensuring that every Resident receives the highest standard of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the Care Team on shift, ensuring care is delivered in line with individual care plans and best practices.
- Deliver and support others in delivering high-quality, person-centred care with a focus on dementia care and end-of-life support .
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with the Home’s policies and relevant training.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential documentation of care delivered.
- Promote the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of Residents through active engagement, and meaningful interaction.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, families, and team members to ensure a holistic approach to care.
- Mentor and support junior Staff, providing hands-on training and guidance.
- Participate in the development and review of care plans tailored to the individual needs of each Resident.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and implement safeguarding procedures when required.
- Assist and enables Residents to dress, undress, wash, use the toilet and bathe.
- Support Residents with meals at a table or in bed. This also includes supporting service users with feeding where required.
- Monitoring Residents’ conditions by taking temperature, pulse, respiration and weight
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- A minimum of NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work toward this qualification).
- At least 2 years of experience in a care Home or similar environment, with supervisory or senior responsibilities.
- Proven experience delivering dementia care and end-of-life care .
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, resident-focused approach.
- Right to work in the UK or eligibility under the Skilled Worker route (sponsorship not available).
- Medication administration training (or willingness to undertake as part of induction).
