Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Drives & Controls Engineer to join a growing engineering environment, working across both workshop and on-site projects.
This role focuses on fault finding, repair, refurbishment, and testing of drives and control systems, alongside providing technical support directly to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Fault Finding
- Diagnose faults on drives and control systems using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Interpret technical drawings and documentation
Repair & Refurbishment
- Carry out repairs and refurbishment of drives and control equipment
- Ensure work is completed to high technical and quality standards
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Perform functional testing following repair
- Verify performance and reliability of equipment
Site Support
- Attend customer sites to investigate faults and provide technical support
- Remove and return equipment for workshop repair when required
Documentation
- Accurately record diagnostics, work completed, parts used, and time spent
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with engineering teams to meet deadlines and quality targets
- Provide technical input and updates where needed
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and repair quality
Health & Safety
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean working environment
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in drives and controls fault finding and repair
- Strong understanding of electronic systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
Desirable:
- Engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HND or equivalent)
- Knowledge of PLC systems and programming
- Familiarity with OEM standards

Working Environment
- Combination of workshop and on-site work
