We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lecturer in Digital Technologies to deliver and support Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience teaching at higher education level, and the ability to develop high-quality learning materials and assessment resources.
Job Purpose
To plan, deliver, assess, and quality assure teaching and learning across HND Digital Technologies programmes, ensuring students achieve outstanding outcomes and are equipped with the skills required by industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching on Pearson BTEC HND Digital Technologies programmes.
- Plan and prepare engaging lessons, workshops, and practical sessions.
- Create and maintain teaching resources, lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning materials.
- Develop assignment briefs and assessment materials in accordance with Pearson requirements.
- Assess student work, provide timely and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate assessment records.
- Support internal verification, standardisation, and quality assurance processes.
- Monitor learner progress, attendance, and achievement, implementing appropriate interventions where required.
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments within Digital Technologies and the wider IT industry.
- Contribute to student recruitment, induction, and academic support activities.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification (level 6) in Information Technology, Computing, Computer Science, Digital Technologies, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional qualifications in IT or Computing.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience teaching Pearson BTEC HND programmes or equivalent higher education qualifications.
- Experience developing and delivering Digital Technologies, IT, or Computing curricula.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Software Development and Programming
- Database Design and Development
- Networking and Cyber Security
- Cloud Computing
- Data Analytics
- Systems Analysis and Design
- Web and Mobile Technologies
Desirable Criteria
- Teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
- Industry experience within the IT or Digital Technologies sector.
- Experience using Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) such as Moodle
